Society for the Study of Reproduction’s 57th Annual Meeting Offers New Scientific Insights and Industry Connections for Reproductive Biology Community

The Society for the Study of Reproduction (SSR) met for the first time outside North America in Dublin, Ireland from July 15-19, 2024. More than 925 scientists from 36 countries were represented at its 57th Annual Meeting, featuring sessions ranging from pre-conference workshops to thought-provoking keynotes, focus sessions, poster presentations and networking opportunities for attendees. EPIC, The Irish Immigration Museum, offered a historical backdrop for attendees to connect at the Welcome Reception, in addition to committee meetings, trainee mixers and closing banquet throughout the week.

Plenary session topics included mapping the development and regeneration of reproductive tissues, the reconstitution of germ cell lineage and gonadal environment using pluripotent stem cells, an engineered cohesion system reducing errors in aged mammalian eggs, live-imaging the preimplantation embryo, epigenetics: a game-changer in livestock production, and more.

Agenda Highlights

Among the outstanding findings presented during the 57th Annual Meeting and related sessions was research on a method to prevent errors in chromosome segregation in female eggs, a leading cause of female fertility decline in humans. In addition, findings from domestic animal research showed how metabolism controls the development of the early embryo. New insights were also provided into how the ruminant embryo signals its presence to the mother.

New Board Members + Officers Elected

During the Annual Meeting, the newly elected Board of Directors and Officers were announced. The SSR Board and Officers offer a wide range of scientific backgrounds and impressive leadership experience. We appreciate their time and dedication to SSR.
